Dr Tsae Wong


Principal of Trinity Lutheran College

Tsae has been the Principal of Trinity Lutheran College since January 2014. She joined Trinity in 2010 as Deputy Head of College after holding several senior leadership positions including Director of Teaching and Learning (Senior School), Director of Teaching and Learning (P to Year 12) and Acting Head of Senior School, at St Hilda’s School (Southport) and John Paul College (Daisy Hill). Tsae has also taught Physics at Raffles Girls’ Secondary School in Singapore and Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School as a mid-career teacher. She completed her PhD in 2018. As Principal,Tsae is the chief executive of the college. She is appointed by the College Board, i.e. College Council, and reports to the Board as regards the proper conduct, management and discipline of the staff and students of the college.


Pastor Michael Alfson

Bachelor of Theology, Ordained 1981


Michael has been in full-time ministry since 1982, serving congregations in Chinchilla, Rochedale, Caboolture and is presently serving as the school pastor of Trinity Lutheran College. Michael has been the College Pastor at Trinity Lutheran College since 2003. Michael’s role includes advising college executives and community on spiritual and theological matters. He facilitates staff and students in their spiritual development, growth and formation; and oversees the worship life of the college, whilst building an understanding and appreciation of Christian faith.


Mr Phillip Hinds

MBA, BBus, GradDip AppCorpGov, ACSA, AGIA, MIPA, MAICD

Business Manager

Phillip is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland and has extensive experience in the commercial construction industry. In addition, Phillip has over 10 years’ experience in the education industry. He was appointed Business Manager to Trinity in January 2015. Phillip is a consultant to the College Council and College Finance Committee and a member on the Little Stars ELC Governance Committee and Trinity Foundation.


Mr Doug Braiden

MEd (Leadership and Management), BASc (Mathematics), BEd (Secondary, Honours), DipPubSaf, DipGov

Head of Campus, Middle & Senior Years

Doug is the Head of Campus, Middle and Senior Years (Years 6 to 12). Doug joined Trinity Lutheran College in January 2018. He brings with him a wealth of educational leadership experience, having taught and held middle leadership positions (Head of Department and Head of Year) in several independent schools including Genesis College, Grace Lutheran College, John Paul College and most recently, West Moreton Anglican College where he was Head of Middle School. Doug has had training and formal studies in public safety, government and investigation. He served in the Queensland Police Service for close to 10 years shortly after he started his career as a teacher and has a strong understanding of the dynamics of modern families and the challenges parents face in raising children in the 21st century.


Mr Brett Mason

BAppSci(HMS-Ed), MACEL, PGCert (Educational Leadership)

Deputy Head of Campus, Middle & Senior Years

Brett Mason joined the college in 2012 from Education Queensland where he held a range of positions including Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School and Director of Academics. At Trinity, he has held the role of Head of Learning (Health and Physical Education) and Head of Year before becoming our inaugural Deputy Head of Campus, Middle and Senior Years in 2015. Brett is responsible for all matters relating to curriculum, and teaching and learning for the Middle and Senior Years. This also involves oversight of pedagogical practice and curriculum structures, as well as the strategic leadership of the redevelopment of our agile learning spaces across the campus.


Mrs Carolyn Thistlethwaite

MEd (Learning Innovation), BEd, DipEd.

Head of Campus, Early and Junior Years

Carolyn is the Head of Campus, Early and Junior Years. She commenced at Trinity in 2010. Prior to that she was the Director of Teaching and Learning at John Paul College in Brisbane, and has taught in state and private schools in Ipswich and on the Gold Coast. Carolyn has a Master’s of Learning Innovation. Carolyn's role at Trinity is to oversee the Early and Junior Years programs at the school.
