← Welcome to a new year!

Welcome to all Early Years and Junior Years families for 2016. We have had a wonderful start to the year with many smiling and happy students joining our school community for the beginning of our academic year. This year we welcome some new staff members too, and I know they are already feeling part of our community thanks to the warmth of our existing families and staff. Our new staff include Mrs Carla McKinley who has come to us from Hamilton, Victoria; Mr Justin Kennedy who has come to us from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Miss Natalie Meredith who is from North Brisbane and who as a student attended the Lutheran School, Prince of Peace; Mrs Kate Dugdale who is a local from the Gold Coast and Miss Christa Miyoni who is from North Brisbane. We also have three new teacher aides, Ms Tina McGuire (Prep); Mrs Rebecca Rogers (Prep) and Mrs Nicol Wooldridge (general teacher aide).

In the Lutheran teaching, we talk about staff working in Lutheran schools as a "calling" or "vocation" from God. The staff at Trinity and responded to God's call and are dedicated, professionaland work very hard to establish a caring and nurturing community with the students and they keep the needs of the students as their central focus. Over the holidays, we had several professional development days –training on leadership for our middle managers, a day with a focus on Information Technology and how to use it effectively in our classrooms and a social emotional course called "Play is the Way". "Play is the Way" is a program of games which the children play to promote empathy, community and resilience. The program also encourages teachers to use language such as being brave and facing our trials rather than running away from these challenges and it is hoped students will gain much from it. We will continue with our exploration and training with this program throughout the year, so please expect to hear your children talking about the fun they had with games in their classroom!
