Swimming Success:
Trinity Lutheran College students enjoyed considerable success at the Queensland Short Course Swimming Championships held in Brisbane last weekend, achieving numerous gold, silver and bronze medals. Flynn McGregor, Emma Siddle, Billy Chambers and Emily Barany all swam personal best times and claimed a number of gold medals on the back of exceptional performances. Sara Tazaki also claimed a silver medal. Beyond this, Billy Chambers set a new Queensland All Comers Record in the 100m breaststroke; an outstanding achievement. For many of our top swimmers, this event provided great preparation for the National Schools Swimming Championships in September.

Trinity Swimming Program:
As noted in a recent letter from Mrs. Wong, Trinity has just appointed a new Head Coach, Mr Dean Pugh. This is an exciting addition to the Trinity Sports Department as Dean comes to the college with an exceptional coaching resume; including countless successes at local, state, national and international competitions. In the coming weeks, further information will be made available to the Trinity community regarding squad training timetables; including the term Learn to Swim Program on the Cotlew Street campus.

APS Sport: Summer Season:
Last Friday saw the Trinity Summer Sports Teams take to the fields and courts for a trial round of the upcoming APS Summer Season against St Stephen’s College. Games were played both on campus and at away venues. As the students boarded the buses, there was an obvious sense of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season. Strong performances were recorded by our Girls AFL teams and Boys Tennis teams; whilst the Year 7A + 7B Girls Touch Football teams showed they will be tough to defeat this season. All the best to the Trinity APS teams for the Summer Sports season.

Rowing: Inter-Regional Crew Selection:
Congratulations to Year 12 student Bailey Wagstaff for his selection in the Inter-Regional Rowing team to contest next month's the State Championships. Considering the strength and depth of rowing talent on the Gold Coast, this is an exceptional achievement.

Mr David Howells
Director of Sports, P to 12
