Trinity Spirit

← NAPLAN is approaching

Each year all Year 3, 5, 7 & 9 students across the country are expected to complete the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

While these tests can be daunting, student results provide both families and the college with a snapshot of how our students are achieving in reference to their peers. It is important to note that while the results can be very detailed, the analysis of the college data is used each year to further support the students’ ongoing learning. NAPLAN tests provide point-in-time information in relation to student performance. It is important that the results accurately reflect student ability and they are not intended to be pass/fail type tests.

Tests for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on:

  • Tuesday 10 May: Language Conventions (45 minutes) & Writing (40 minutes)
  • Wednesday 11 May: Reading (65 minutes)
  • Thursday 12 May: Numeracy (40 minutes)

To best help your student prepare for the day it is important to focus on building their confidence. To do this, you can:

  • Assure your child that they are well prepared for the tests
  • Ensure that your child is well rested and eats a good breakfast
  • Encourage a “have-a-go, do your best attitude” towards the tests
  • Pack a healthy snack of brain food, such as a banana.

We are very proud of all our students and their achievements and look forward to celebrating their continued progress when they receive their results early in Term 3.
