Last year, our Trinity Lutheran College Junior campus canteen convenor, Mrs Sandra Mendez-Cortes initiated the wonderful charity incentive, 'Bags of Hope'. In true Trinity style, the community pulled together and donated a massive 78 bags, each filled to the brim with various essential items to assist women in need. A total of 40 bags were donated and personally delivered by Sandra and two of her volunteers, Amanda Mudge and Julie Swift-Hoadley, to The Salvation Army, Still Waters Women's Refuge in Southport. A further 38 were donated to the Lutheran Community Care, 'Mary & Martha's Refuge' in Brisbane.
Sandra was truly astounded by the large number of donations and offers of assistance that she received from the Trinity community in such a short time frame and wishes to thank all those who were involved. The Salvation Army, Still Waters Women's Refuge and the Lutheran Community Care, Mary & Martha's Refuge were overwhelmed and sincerely grateful for the donations, as you can see by their letter of thanks. The Trinity Spirit shines through again!
