Books for the annual Cotlew Street campus Book Fair (10-13 October) arrived just as students and teachers returned to school this term,. This year, it was delightful (and satisfying) to see the excitement in the days before, as students anticipated the books that would be available when the “crates” were opened. The Book Fair is held first and foremost as another way for the library to create excitement and anticipation about books.
The Book Fair is also a fundraiser for the Cotlew Street campus Library. Students make wish lists and purchased books provided by Carnival Book Fairs or Koorong Christian books and the library keeps a commission from books sold. There was also a choice of pre-loved books, bargain books and lucky chance draws. We would like to thank all the students, teachers and parents for their purchases as the week profited $1300 which will be used to purchase more library resources. Most importantly, we benefited from the enthusiasm for literature and the wonderful moments of community connection. Special thanks to our parent volunteers for helping to set up and manage the sales. It was fun! So much so that we even forgot to have the camera on hand this year, but we did snap a shot before the fun began…
