For the last 3 years, Trinity has proudly pioneered an Arts Excellence Program especially for students who are passionate about the arts and who are interested in a career in music, art, drama or dance.
This year we kicked off the program with an exciting and unique visit to QPAC experiencing a behind-the-scenes look at the Australian Ballet preparing for a performance. The students were given front row seats, literally, and were able to watch these truly talented dancers and athletes prepare with their choreographer in a technique based workshop.
“The rehearsal room is a very special place. It’s a place where a lot of knowledge is disseminated and where dancers can hone their craft. It is where roles are built and developed, to the point where they are ready to be put on stage. It’s quite an amazing atmosphere.” — Ballet Master Steven Heathcote
Watching the professional ballerinas in full flight as they leapt to heights was a first for many of the students and something that truly has to be seen to be believed. It was a unique and inspiring experience for all 34 students, Mrs Macmichael and Ms Smith and one that will not be forgotten for a very long time! The Arts Excellence students will continue to enjoy backstage experiences, workshops, shows and lectures throughout the year, all designed to enhance their skills and experiences as Performing Artists.
