Our Lion King Mirror of Hope Fundraiser last Saturday was a wonderful success, raising $2243 towards the $5500 that our senior students are aiming to raise for Mirror of Hope in Africa. This money will cover the cost to give a child from the Kibera slums a high school education. The challenges facing children within the Kibera slum cannot be over emphasized. On a daily basis many of them are exposed to neglect, drug abuse, sexual abuse, lack of role models, and households where children are the head of the household. With so many families just surviving below the poverty line it is no wonder the payment of school fees can be an impossible goal. The Education sponsorship program is the backbone of the Mirror of Hope projects and all Mirror of Hope sponsored students are carefully selected and are supported both financially & emotionally throughout their studies. All students are taught to give back to the community and as part of their sponsorship they must do six months of community service after they have completed high school. Sponsoring one child gives not only them but potentially the whole community the chance of a better life so a very big thank-you to all our families and members of staff who supported this event.

A special thank-you from the P&F to all our College Captains, Student Leaders and student volunteers for giving up their weekend to help with the event. Their dedication to the college and community service is greatly appreciated. We also thank all the wonderful event sponsors for their generous support, without which the event would not have been the success it was:
