The Battle of the Bands Inter-House competition raised the roof of our Robert Hoff Hall to a sold out house on Friday 22 February. We are incredibly proud of all the students involved as they independently created, directed, choreographed and rehearsed their performances.
The 29th annual Battle of the Bands once again upheld this proud tradition of Trinity, and saw the three house bands battle it out on stage, for the 2019 Battle of the Bands title, with energy, passion and oodles of house spirit. Most importantly, it was really lovely to see the wonderful support that each of the houses gave one another at rehearsals and throughout the performances.
The performances of all three bands were electric and energetic, and enthralled the audience throughout the night. There were three very distinct bands, each with their own unique style, and each performed entertaining and highly polished sets. Each band had a wonderful selection of repertoire, beautiful vocal and dance pieces, and outstanding instrumental performances. After a very entertaining night of rock, Mackenzie house came out on top and was crowned the 2019 Battle of the Band winners!
Special mention also goes to the following students for their outstanding success in being awarded:
Best vocalist: Tayla Hopkins
Best guitarist: Guan Li
Best bass player: Lucas Cherrier
Best drummer: Zac Robson
Best keyboard player: Thomas Barry
Best instrumentalist: Elliena Escott
Best singer: Chelsea Burton
Best dancer: Jordana Hudson
Judges Choice award: Cooper Berger
We were thrilled to have Kate Wormald (Dance), Josh Sinclair (Instrumental) and alumni Tahlia Traecey (Vocals) as our esteemed judges, who were blown away by the high level of all the performances, the electrifying atmosphere and the spirit of the event.
Thank you to the much loved “staff band” who took centre stage whilst the judges were deliberating and gave a fantastic performance yet again.
Congratulations to past students Amy Wharton and Josephine Cross, our MCs for the evening and to all staff who made the evening possible, including the wonderful Mr Emmerson, Head of Culture, and the fabulous Performing Arts department. The night was a true celebration of school spirit and community, and we look forward to upholding this great tradition in 2020.
