What an excellent conclusion to the 2018 local rowing season. At the culminating Trophy Regatta, Trinity reclaimed the prestigious Jenny Pemberton Trophy by one point and successfully validated its place as the premier rowing school within the Gold Coast Regional School Rowing Association.
Throughout Term 2 the Trinity Rowing Team, consisting of 54 students from Year 7 to Year 12, bravely raced and represented the school at four local regattas. The determination and team work that every member demonstrated, helped to overcome the difficult windy conditions over the first three local events held in Coomera Waters. For the majority of our rowers this was the first time they were exposed to competition; however, through consistent hard work at training, they improved their skill and handled the racing experience with flying colours. All rowers raced strongly and confidently in their singles, doubles, quads as well as eights in their age groups.
The final event of the local season was the Trophy Regatta held in Murwillumba, NSW. Our coaches did an excellent job in preparing our rowers and crews for the premier event of Term 2 calendar. Our team showed great improvement and displayed mature racing which they had learned from the previous regattas. These performances all came together and all contributed to the final points score and the claiming of the Jenny Pemberton Cup.
Trophy Regatta Age Group Victories:
A special thank you to our Rowing Supporters Group and parents for successfully hosting the Trophy Regatta and for their tireless efforts in setting up our boats and organising the catering for this regatta. This is a massive undertaking and we are very grateful to have such wonderful team behind us.
