What a buzz there was on our Junior Years campus on Monday 5 November. All students from Prep to Year 5 were involved in a special Extraordinary Experience Day. This year we have been working on providing some extra opportunities for our students to enrich their classrooms experiences. We have particularly been focusing on giving students an opportunity to extend their learning in various ways and in different curriculum areas. Many students have gifts and talents in a variety of areas outside of the traditional classroom and our goal for this day was to enrich the classroom experiences with some fun, engaging workshops where the children could choose areas that they are interested in and passionate about.
Our Prep – Year 2 students started their session with an exciting Science Show and then, in their year level groups, they participated in some fun science activities.
The Years 3 - 5 students also started with a Science Show. The children were then able to choose three workshops from a very wide selection of choices to do for the remainder of the day.
The workshop choices included: Drumming, Cooking, Dance, Weaving, Art, Maths, Science, Sport, Japanese Animation, Chess, Coding, Animata and Mystery Skyping. The day was a wonderful success, thoroughly enjoyed by all the students who were able to not only do activities they are passionate about but also try new activities they had never been exposed to.
A big thank you to all the Junior Years staff for creating such incredible opportunities for the children and a special thank you also to Ms Jones from the Senior campus for assisting with our Science workshop.
Watch this space for more wonderful innovative learning opportunities for our students in 2019!
