Extraordinary Experiences in our Extraordinary Junior Years
On Thursday 20 June, just before the end of Term 2, all our Junior Years students participated in Trinity’s Extraordinary Experience Day. The day was designed to allow students to investigate and inquire into a range of personal interest areas, and challenge themselves in an area of strength or passion. Most importantly the day was all about learning through having fun because what is learning without fun? Albert Einstein said “Creativity is intelligence having fun”. The many and varied activities on offer allowed the students to express their creativity in so many different ways.
Students participated in learning through sport, performing arts, creating, making, experimenting, playing, building, sharing, and communicating. Children were grouped across year levels and this proved to be very popular, with many new friendships formed throughout the day. The campus was a buzz in the afternoon as the children left and went home to share their many wonderful learning experiences with their families.
An author worked with some students, inspiring them to write and improve their writing skills. A performing arts group ‘Step on Stage’ worked with groups of students, developing their drama and acting skills. All our amazing teachers planned thoughtful, creative and inquiring activities in science, STEM, coding, maths, research, music, art, sport and culture.
At Trinity we focus on the individual and our Extraordinary Experience Day is one way of allowing children to have choice and find an area of interest to pursue, whilst simutaneously challenging them to work with others and extend their thinking in different areas.
