This term the Year 7’s have studied Ancient China. They read the novel, Between the Dragon and the Eagle, which is based on the journey of a stunning bolt of blue silk that is traded and sold along the famous silk road.
For the English assessment task, the students stepped into the shoes of one of the characters from the novel and wrote a series of diary entries from their perspective of the journey from China to Rome.
For Humanities, the students created an artefact piece that would be displayed in a museum (the classroom). The piece would have been found along the route of the silk road. The students were given choice as to what artefact they would design. A written component outlining the history of the piece was required also.
