The Lutheran Schools Vocal Workshop and Performance Day is now in it’s third year! Redeemer Lutheran College hosted it initially in 2016 with special guest artists “Idea of North” and then last year it was hosted at St Andrew’s Lutheran College with special guest artist, Katie Noonan.
Last night, it was Trinity’s turn to host this special event which unites all Lutheran students from Trinity, LORDS, St Andrews & Faith Lutheran College, in their passion for singing and, this year, students shared this unique and rewarding experience with the talented Tenor trio “Tenori”, workshopping and performing with them. These 3 tenors all met when touring the world with ‘The Ten Tenors’ and in recent years started their own highly successful ensemble ‘Tenori’. Our collective students had the pleasure of participating in a Q&A with these industry professionals, gaining invaluable advice about the industry, about singing and about following your passion in life. As part of this, our students were treated to a special performance by Tenori. The day then followed with 3 hours of vocal workshops with the tenors, learning 3 stunning numbers to perform with them as part of the finale in the concert. The students were thrilled to spend the day developing vocal skills, being inspired by these incredible singers and having the chance to make new friends along the way!
The concert commenced with beautiful pre-show entertainment by the Trinity String Quartet in our illuminated courtyard complete with wonderful refreshments provided by the Performing Arts Support Group. The first act of the concert featured each school sharing renditions of a variety of choral pieces and entertaining the audience. Trinity amazed audiences with the outstanding musicianship and vocal capabilities of all three of our choirs – College Choir, Senior Vocal Group and Musique Cantabile. The performances were of an exceptionally high standard and demonstrated the depth of talent in our vocal program at the college.
The second act was simply exceptional. ‘Tenori’ showcased why they amaze audiences around the world. The tenors performed a variety of incredible and much loved songs from musical theatre, opera and even pop! Their vocal capabilities were glorious as their voices almost lifted the roof of the Robert Hoff Hall. The audience were truly mesmerised by such incredible vocal talents, right here in our very own college! The pinnacle of the experience was certainly the finale where the 160 students from 4 schools joined ‘Tenori’ on stage for a spectacular finale including stunning renditions of ‘You Raise Me Up’, ‘Nessun Dorma’ and ‘Bee Gees Medley’.
We thank the Performing Arts team and the Performing Support Group who worked tirelessly to host such a wonderful event.
We thank our 85 vocalists and musicians who took to the stage last night and certainly did our community proud!
