After a very successful year of training and competition, we concluded the 2018 season with the biggest regatta on the calendar, the Queensland School State Championship. There were 840 athletes in total entered from QLD, North NSW and New Zealand, which makes the event the second biggest rowing event in Australia.
Based on our rowers performance throughout the year, a total of 23 athletes were selected to represent Trinity Lutheran College in Rockhampton. These athletes managed to push through the ferocious wind and heat that plagued the event all weekend and still perform to their best. All rowers showed an outstanding team spirit and determination which also resulted in their excellent performance on the water.
In total we managed to claim medals in four events this year, including the Year 8 Boys Quad (Charles, Ermin, Lucio, Johahn cox: Jetty ) and Double Scull (Charles, Ermin) bringing home a Gold and Bronze medal respectively. The Open Boys also brought home a Gold and Bronze in the Open Single (Lachlan) and Double Scull (Ben, Lachlan).
The following rowers had an excellent regatta and claimed a berth in the finals (top 8 place in the Queensland):
