The Class of 2020 was our first cohort to undergo the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) system which replaced the Overall Position (OP) system. The QCE is issued by Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) while the ATAR is issued by Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre (QTAC).

Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) determines the ATAR score using a student’s best five General subjects or a student’s best results in a combination of four General subjects results plus one Applied subject result or a student’s completed VET (Vocational Education and Training) qualification at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate III level or above. Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) focuses on the curriculum and assessment aspects of the senior curriculum including endorsement and confirmation of internal assessments for quality assurance purpose. Furthermore, QCAA is also responsible for the end-of-year 12 external assessments, i.e. public examinations.
