We believe that participation in sport at a competitive and social level is the cornerstone of a young person’s development. Students are encouraged to experience the benefits of team and life sports, and they are taught the importance of a healthy lifestyle and are encouraged to make exercise a lifelong activity.

Sport at Trinity Lutheran College is part of the holistic educational experience afforded to all students. Trinity proudly caters for all levels of athletes; with a vision and structure to effectively develop the skill set and performance level of all students.

JUNIOR SPORT (PREP- YEAR 3)

Students from Prep to Year 3 are involved in physical and sporting activities that develop fundamental motor skills with an emphasis on participation and sportsmanship.

This involves opportunities in a variety of sports: including Gecko Sports, Total Football Academy Soccer Program; Tennis Training Groups, Learn to Swim and Aus Kick AFL. Furthermore, inter-house carnivals in cross country, swimming and athletics are also conducted in a fun and developmental atmosphere.

INTER-SCHOOL SPORT (APS)

Trinity Lutheran College is a member of the Associated Private Schools (APS) competition; a group of eight schools across the Gold Coast which provides students with a wide variety of sporting opportunities. Junior APS Sport involves participation for Year 4 to 6 students, whilst Senior APS Sport targets Year 7 to 12 students. Students train on designated days throughout the season with inter-school fixtures played on every Thursday for Junior APS, and on every Friday for Senior APS during school time.

REPRESENTATIVE PATHWAYS

Students are encouraged to work towards selection in representative school sport sporting teams. Trinity is a member of the Hinterland District Sports Association. The first step in representative sport selection is into a Hinterland team Talented athletes then progress by representing the South Coast Region at State Championship.
